Liquidators have been appointed to a kilt hire firm in Edinburgh, which has been in business for more than a century, after its owner confirmed it would be closing down.
Bowdens Kilt Hire on Easter Road says it has served “generations of families from the same shop” for nearly 110 years after first opening its doors in 1916.
In a statement on social media last month, the shop’s owner confirmed the store was to close at the end of January this year.
Described as Scotland’s “oldest kilt hire specialists”, the firm thanked its customers past and present for their support.
Documents confirmed liquidators from Revolution RTI Limited were appointed to wind up the firm.
Bowdens said on social media last month: “As many of you all know, Bowdens Kilt Hire will be closing its doors for the final time…just shy of 110 years, we have been providing the people of Edinburgh and beyond with men’s formal wear as Edinburgh’s oldest independent formal hire company.
“From everyone at Bowdens, past and present, we want to thank each and every one of you who have supported us from the very start.
“Whether it was for a wedding, graduation, prom or any other function, we are thankful that you chose us for your party.
“Thank you to everyone for being a part of our journey.”
