The M9 is partially blocked after a three-vehicle crash on the motorway.

Traffic Scotland warned the collision near Newbridge Junction 1 was affecting travel southbound.

The crash is reported it to have happened shortly before 9.10am on Monday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said it was made aware of a crash involving three vehicles on the M9 near Junction 1 at Newbridge around 9am.

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

A yellow weather warning for ice is in force across much of Scotland.

Residents in Edinburgh and across the central belt awoke on Monday morning to a thin layer of snow and ice

Drivers have been warned to take care with the warning in force until 10am. The Met Office said there were likely to be icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

A warning for snow and ice is also in place across the north and west coast of Scotland.

Snow showers and icy stretches are expected to bring some disruption with the alert in force until 10am on Wednesday.

The Met Office said: “Frequent wintry showers, mainly of snow, will feed into northern Scotland during this period.

“A few centimetres of snow are likely at low levels over a given 24 hour period, with the potential for ten to 15cm above 200 metres, especially across parts of the Highlands.

“Ice will be an additional hazard, especially Tuesday night.”
