A 69-year-old man has survived a microlight aircraft crash in the Scottish Borders.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) received a call about a microlight crash at Lempitlaw Farm Airfield near Kelso at around 9.45pm on Wednesday night.

The aircraft was on its side at the small, private grass airfield with a 69-year-old man trapped inside.

The man was the only person within the aircraft, and SFRS said he was conscious and breathing with leg injuries.

Rescuers freed the man’s leg after removing fibreglass panels, and air ambulances were on scene.
