A man has died, and another has been airlifted to hospital following a crash near Amulree.

Police were called to the A822 around 12.20pm on Friday following reports of a single-vehicle collision.

A 78-year-old man, who was driving the Volkswagen van, was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the passengers, a 58-year-old man, was taken to Ninewells Hospital by air ambulance.

The other occupants were checked over by paramedics at the scene.

The road was closed while a crash investigation was carried out and reopened around 7.30pm.

Investigations remain ongoing.

Sergeant John McDiarmid said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died in this collision, as well as those who were in the van.

“While we’ve spoken to a number of witnesses already, I’d appeal to anyone else who saw what happened, or the vehicle before the crash, to come forward.

“Can I also please ask anyone with private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage of the A822 area to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact 101 quoting reference 1335 of November 28.
