A man has been pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle crash in East Lothian.

Emergency services were called to the A198 at Longniddry, approximately three-quarters of a mile east of the Lyars Road junction, at around 6am on Friday.

The driver of the vehicle, an 80-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are aware.

The road was closed and reopened at around 12.10pm.

Police are asking anyone who saw a white Dacia Sandero prior to the crash to come forward.

Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died as a result of the crash this morning.

“I’d ask anyone who saw this vehicle, a white Dacia Sandero, prior to the collision driving on the coastal road around Longniddry this morning, to contact officers.

“Anyone who saw what happened and has not yet provided information to police are also asked to contact us.”

Those with information should contact Police Scotland via 101 and quote incident number 0567 of June 26, 2026.
