An 81-year-old man died in hospital eight days after a fall at Edinburgh Airport.
The elderly passenger was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on Tuesday, November 28 following a fall at the airport but passed away on Thursday, December 7.
Following his death, a report was received by the Procurator Fiscal who say a joint investigation with Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is ongoing.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
An Edinburgh Airport spokesperson: “We are aware of the death of an 81-year-old man following a fall at Edinburgh Airport.
“We offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
“At this time we are cooperating fully with regulatory authorities in their investigations.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were made aware of the death of an 81-year-old man within Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on Thursday, December 7, 2023 following a fall at Edinburgh Airport on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and there are no suspicious circumstances.
“The Health and Safety Executive have been advised.”
A spokesperson for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service: “The Procurator Fiscal has received reports in connection with the death of an 81-year-old man on December 7, 2023 in Edinburgh.
“A joint investigation by Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is ongoing and once complete will be fully considered by the Procurator Fiscal.
“The family will continue to be kept updated in relation to any significant developments.”
A HSE spokesperson said: “Alongside Police Scotland, we continue to investigate an incident which happened on November 28, 2023, at Edinburgh Airport.”
