A quad bike passenger has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in the Scottish Borders.

The 34-year-old was riding along an unclassified road on a Yamaha Grizzly 550 quad bike when it crashed near Abbey St Bathans at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, March 1.

It happened close to Edin’s Hall Broch car park on a road that links the A6112 with the parish in Berwickshire.

The passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

The driver of the quad bike was uninjured.

Sergeant Dave Waddell said: “Our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this crash and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time that may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

“If you have dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation or saw what happened then please get in touch via 101, quoting incident number 1946 of Wednesday, 1 March, 2023.”
