A man has appeared in court charged with killing a baby who died in a Fife hospital.

Emergency services were alerted to the death of a two-month-old baby boy in Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital on July 27 at around 3pm.

A 26-year-old man was charged in connection with the incident.

Ryan Lumsden, from Glenrothes, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Thursday charged with one count of murder.

He made no plea and was granted bail.

Lumsden’s next court appearance has not been confirmed.
