A man has been arrested after a crash during a police chase left two people in hospital.
A police car was involved in a pursuit of a van on the M8, near Newbridge, when both vehicle’s collided at around 7.35pm on Friday.
Officers are said to have signalled the van to stop in Edinburgh a short time earlier.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospital, where they received treatment before being released.
Police confirmed that a 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
A spokesperson said: “A police vehicle was involved in a collision with a van following a pursuit on the M8 near Newbridge around 7.35pm on Friday, April 8.
“The vehicle had failed to stop for officers in Edinburgh a short time earlier.
“The driver of the police vehicle and the driver of the van were taken to hospital and have since been released following treatment.
“A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, April 11, 2022.”
