STV NewsA man has been arrested after a woman was allegedly seriously assaulted in Dalkeith.
The 26-year-old woman was reportedly attacked while walking on a footpath near a golf club on Abbey Road on Friday evening.
She was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Police have said a 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and that investigations are ongoing.
The force said there will continue to be an increased police presence in the area.
