A man has been charged six months after an American historian died following a crash in Edinburgh.

Dr William Noel from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died following the collision around 5.50pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in Trinity Crescent in the city.

The 58-year-old was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died on April 29.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences following the incident.

He is due to appear in court at a later date.

A Police Scotland statement: “A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences following a crash in Edinburgh.

“The incident occurred around 5.50pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in Trinity Crescent.

“A 58-year-old man was injured in the collision and died on Monday, April 29, 2024.

“The man is due to appear at court at a later date.”
