A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a police officer was knocked down by a car in East Lothian.
Emergency services were called to the High Street in Haddington around 3.55pm on Tuesday.
A male police officer was taken to hospital and later released.
The road was closed to allow for investigations to be carried out and later reopened.
Andrew Yorkston appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with a number offences including attempted murder, failing to stop a vehicle when asked to do so, driving whilst disqualified, dangerous driving, carrying an offensive weapon and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The 34-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody.
He is due to make his next appearance within the next eight days.
