A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in a house in Fife.
Emergency services were alerted to a disturbance in Leishman Drive, Dunfermline, on Wednesday morning.
A 42-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Her injuries are said to be serious, but not life-threatening.
A 49-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
On Thursday, police confirmed he had now been charged with attempted murder and is expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court later in the day.
Detective inspector Chris Dow, of Fife CID, said: “We are treating this as a contained and isolated incident with no risk to the wider public.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the public who came to the woman’s aid and assisted the police investigation.”
