A man has died and another is seriously injured after a crash between a pick-up truck and a lorry on the A7 near Langholm.
Emergency services were called to the road near Briery Bank around 11.35am on Tuesday following the two-vehicle crash.
A 36-year-old man who was driving a green Toyota Hilux was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 55-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of a white Scania HGV was uninjured.
The road was closed for around 12 hours to allow for investigations and vehicle recovery.
Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward.
Sergeant Colin Ramage said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died in this crash, as well as the man who suffered serious injuries.
“We’re carrying out extensive enquiries to establish exactly what happened, and I’d appeal to anyone with information or dash-cam footage to come forward.”
