A man has died in hospital and an arrest has been made after an “altercation” at an industrial estate in East Lothian.
Police were called to an industrial estate in Macmerry at around 1pm on Friday, February 9, after receiving reports of a man being seriously injured.
Emergency services took the 78-year-old man to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He was pronounced dead on Saturday.
A 76-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with assault.
He was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, but was released beforehand pending further enquiries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Friday, February 9, 2024, police were called to a report of a 78-year-old man having been seriously injured during an altercation at an industrial estate in Macmerry, East Lothian.
“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he died on Saturday.
“A 76-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault and is due to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, February 12.”
