A man in a van attacked a teenage boy before stealing his electric bike.

Detectives in West Lothian are hunting for a white van after the incident in Broxburn on Tuesday.

At around 8pm, a 14-year-old boy was on his electric bike with his friend on Greendykes Road when the van with two men inside pulled up alongside them.

One of the men got out of the van and assaulted the boy and took his Talaria Sting Mx4 bike – which retails for around £3,000. He got back in the van, and it took off in an unknown direction.

The teen was not injured as a result of the assault.

Detective constable Graeme Comrie said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident to come forward.

“As part of our investigations, we will be reviewing CCTV and carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

“Please come forward if you have private CCTV or dash-cam footage you may have captured something that can assist our enquiries.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2811 of Tuesday, May 5, 2026.”
