Man injured after being hit by weapon in street attack

A man has been left with a serious head injury after he was assaulted in a broad daylight attack.

The 24-year-old was on Lanrigg Road, Fauldhouse, West Lothian when he was approached by another man at around 3.30pm on Thursday.

He was then hit over the head with a heavy object, leaving him injured.

The other man, who was in the company of a younger boy, then made off in an unknown direction.

Emergency services attended and the injured man was taken to St John’s Hospital where he has been treated for his injuries.

Police are now looking to trace the man responsible. He is described as being white, in his 20s and around 6ft 3in with a slim build.

At the time of the assault he was wearing all black clothing.

Detective Constable Alan Gibson from Livingston CID said: “This was an unprovoked attack on the victim, which left him with a serious head injury, and it is vital we trace the individual responsible.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Lanrigg Road on Thursday afternoon, and may have witnessed the incident or noticed a man matching the above description, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101.”
