A man has died after a car crashed with a fallen tree amid extremely strong winds.
The collision took place in Grangemouth, Falkirk, on the A905 at Beancross Road at around 11.45pm on Sunday, January 21.
A Hyundai car hit a fallen tree and the front seat passenger, an 84-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed the vehicle’s other occupants were uninjured and emergency services closed the road to conduct an investigation.
The road reopened at around 6am on Monday, January 22.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to establish the full circumstances of the crash and asked anyone with dashcam footage of the road around the time of the collision to come forward.
Road policing inspector Andrew Thomson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died, and all those involved in the collision.
“We continue to offer them support as our enquiries progress.
“I’d be keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or was on the A905 around 11.45pm yesterday (Sunday).
“I’d also request anyone with dashcam footage of Beancross Road around that time, please review your footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
