A man has been left fighting for his life following a disturbance in Edinburgh.

Police, supported by specialist resources, attended the scene in Fort Kinnaird on Whitehill Road at around 5pm on Thursday.

Emergency services were also in attendance and the 31-year-old was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where medical staff describe his condition as “critical but stable”.

Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: “We were made aware of a man being injured following a disturbance at Whitehill Road, Edinburgh, around 5pm on Thursday.

“A 31-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

“Officers attended, supported by specialist resources, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
