A man has been left with “significant injuries” after he was attacked within a vehicle in Tranent on Wednesday.

The serious assault happened sometime between 3.45pm and 4pm on Haddington Road.

A 44-year-old man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. The suspect was dressed in all black clothing.

Detective Constable Garry Mauran said: “This serious assault has left the victim with significant injuries. We are carrying out enquiries to establish exactly what happened and to identify the person responsible.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident, or who may have captured anything on dash cam, private CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.”
