Man reported for driving offence after Glenrothes bus crash leaves person in hospital

A man has been reported for a driving offence following a bus crash in Glenrothes.

Police confirmed one person had been taken to hospital, while five other passengers were checked over at the scene on Church Street near the bus station.

The incident occurred around 1pm on Saturday, September 19, when a bus collided with a lamppost.

Images from the scene show the front of the bus damaged, including a smashed windscreen and headsign.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 1.10pm on Saturday, September 19, we were called to a report of a bus crashing into a lamppost on Church Street in Glenrothes.

“Emergency services attended, five people were checked at the scene and one person was taken to hospital for treatment.

“A man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for a driving offence.”

A Stagecoach spokesperson said: “We’re aware of an incident involving one of our buses on Church Street in Glenrothes at around 12.51pm today.

“The safety of our customers, colleagues and other road users is our absolute priority, and we will support the police and emergency services with their enquiries.”
