A man is in hospital after being found seriously injured on an Edinburgh street on Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called shortly before 2.30pm to the Albert Street area of Leith.

A 30-year-old man was found seriously injured and rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

A large police presence was seen in the area and officers remain at the scene.

Police Scotland said that enquiries were ongoing to establish the full circumstances, but confirmed that there was no wider threat to the public.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.20pm on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, officers were called to a report of a 30-year-old man found seriously injured on Albert Street in Edinburgh.

“The man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“Officers remain at the scene and there is no threat to the wider public.

“Anyone with any information that could assist should contact police via 101, quoting incident number 1853 of July 11.”
