A man has been left seriously injured after a crash involving an electric motorcycle and a van in Edinburgh.

A Mercedes Vito van collided with a black Sur-Ron e-bike on the city’s Clermiston Road on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8.15pm and the 28-year-old motorcyclist was taken to the Royal Infirmary.

Medical staff have described his injuries as serious.

Police are now appealing for information about the crash and have asked for witnesses to contact them.

Sergeant Paul Ewing said: “Our inquiries are ongoing, and I would ask anyone who has yet to speak to police to get in touch and review any dash-cam footage for anything that may assist with our inquiries.”

The road was closed for investigations following the crash and reopened at around 11.45pm.
