A man who sexually assaulted a teenager at a bus stop in broad daylight has been jailed.
Maciej Rabiej-Wanczyk, 47, plied his “intoxicated” 17-year-old victim with vodka before kissing her forcibly on the mouth, prompting passers-by to intervene.
Stirling Sheriff Court heard the teen had been waiting for a friend at the bus stop near Stirling Railway Station.
The friend was not due to arrive until 4pm, and while she was waiting, the teen chatted with two other young females.
Rabiej-Wanczyk approached the trio, trying to speak to them in a language that the victim could not understand.
He then left and returned with vodka and beer.
Lindsey Brooks, prosecuting, told the court: “Vodka was offered to the complainer and she accepted.
“By her account, she took a few sips, but other witnesses described her as being intoxicated.
“He attempted to kiss her, she backed away, but he was seen to forcibly kiss her.”
An 18-year-old male saw what was going on, called police, and stayed nearby until the victim was led away by other girls.
Mrs Brooks said: “The complainer described the accused asking for her phone and putting his number under the name Magic.”
Police were called, and Rabiej-Wanczyk was arrested.
He told cops via a Polish interpreter: “‘I was only kissing her’.”
Rabiej-Wanczyk, of Stirling, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the teenager at the bus stop on July 1 last year.
When he appeared for sentence, the court was told he had been “slightly hostile” to social workers preparing a report on him; described what happened as “a silly offence”; and tried to blame his victim.
Solicitor Stephen Babalola, defending, said Rabiej-Wanczyk was remorseful and had admitted his guilt at an early stage.
Sheriff Keith O’Mahony jailed him for five months and placed him on the sex offenders’ register for seven years.
He said: “The report indicates you have very little insight into the effect of your crime.”
Rabiej-Wanczyk showed no emotion as he was handcuffed to a guard and led to the cells.
