A man who repeatedly raped a woman after turning up at her home has been jailed for six years.

Dean Lynch, 29, attacked his victim despite her pleas that she was not interested in having sex with him.

The pair had earlier been at the same charity event in November 2022.

Lynch had messaged the woman after she had returned home asking for her address.

She gave it to him – a decision she later said she “bitterly regretted” – and Lynch appeared at the property in Rosyth, Fife.

Jurors heard how almost immediately Lynch “pestered” her for sex.

He was said to have “not taken ‘no’ for an answer” and went to rape the vulnerable woman three times.

The ordeal was described in court as “harrowing and degrading”.

Lynch told her at one stage: “You are a lot quieter than I thought you would be.”

The traumatised victim recalled how she had felt “violated, sick and terrified”.

She had sent a friend voicenotes after what happened, revealing she had been attacked.

Lynch, of Dalgety Bay, Fife, had denied the rape charge. The account given by him was described by a judge as “radically different” with his claims that the woman had been “an active and willing participant”.

However, he was found guilty following the trial in Edinburgh last month.

He was sentenced on Friday at the High Court in Glasgow.

Lord Harrower told Lynch: “The psychological harm (for the victim) has been devastating, and it is something that she may never fully recover from.”

Ewen Roy, defending, earlier told the sentencing hearing that Lynch had not been “shunned” by family and friends.

The lawyer said they had stated their “disbelief and shock” as the crime was “out of character”.

Lynch was also put on the sex offenders list. He has been banned from approaching or contacting his victim for an indefinite period.
