A manhunt is under way after an Edinburgh sex offender skipped sentencing last month.

Huseyin Simsek was convicted of sexually assaulting a boy from the age of three to six between 2020 and 2023.

The 50-year-old was found guilty of putting his hand in the boy’s underwear and touching him.

He was due to be sentenced on January 20, however, he did not appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The convicted sex offender was last seen in the Dalry Road area of the capital at around 8pm on January 18.

It is understood Simsek has access to a white BMW series 3 saloon car with the registration YA69 KWF.

The 50-year-old is described as being around 6ft, with an athletic build and black hair. It is unknown what he may be wearing.

Members of the public have been urged to get in touch with officers if they have seen the convicted sex offender.

Inspector Ross Nicol said: “We are asking anyone who has seen him or knows where he might be to get in touch.

“Anyone who can help is asked not to approach Husayin but to call Police Scotland immediately on 101, quoting incident number 3339 of Friday, January 29, 2026.”
