A Midlothian primary school was locked down on Friday morning following reports of a man with a knife.
Emergency services were called to the Eskbank Road area of Dalkeith, near to King’s Park school, at around 10.10am.
A Midlothian council spokesman confirmed that pupils were kept indoors during the school break due to the incident.
However, they were able to go home at lunchtime and also leave as normal at the end of the school day.
No arrests were made following the incident. Investigators are following a positive line of enquiry in efforts to trace the man.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.10am on Friday, November 21, 2025, we received a report of a man in possession of a knife in the Eskbank Road area of Dalkeith.
“Officers are searching the area in effort to trace the man and are following a positive line of enquiry.”
