A road has been closed in both directions in Midlothian following a rush hour collision on Monday morning.

The crash occurred at around 7.45am on the A702 between Easter Howgate and Hillend.

Traffic Scotland has confirmed the road is shut and drivers have been urged to use alternative routes.

A post on social media read: “The #A702 is currently CLOSED in both directions between Easter Howgate and Hillend due to a collision.

“Traffic using the #A703 as an alternative. Things are already beginning to look slow so please #TakeCare.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
