A motorcyclist has died following a crash with a lorry in Borders on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called shortly after 11.30am on June 21 to the crash on the A7 north of Stow which involved a blue Yamaha motorcycle and a white Renault HGV.

Emergency services attended and the rider of the motorcycle, a 44-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been made aware.

The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

Police are now appealing for information to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

Sergeant Barry Sommerville said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and all those involved and I would like to thank members of the public who stopped to assist.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing to anyone who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch if you can assist.

“If you were driving in the area and have dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation then please contact us.”

Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1287 of Friday, June 21, 2024.
