Motorcyclist 'towed down motorway by car using extendable dog lead'

The disqualified rider was stopped on the M9 motorway near Dunbar, where he attempted to escape on foot before being arrested.

A disqualified motorcyclist has been reported after allegedly being towed down a motorway by a car using an extendable dog lead.

Dunbar Road Police came across the rider on Tuesday on the M9.

After attempting to stop the vehicle, the rider of the motorbike attempted to flee from police through nearby fields, but was caught.

The driver of the car and the motorcyclist were reported to the Procurator Fiscal’s Office for numerous offences and the motorbike was seized.

A statement read: “DunbarRP came across a disqualified rider of a motorcycle who was being towed using an extendable dog lead on the M9 by another vehicle.

“The rider tried to flee through fields on foot but was caught. Both reported to @COPFS for numerous offences and the motorbike was seized.”
