Three people are in hospital and a busy road in Edinburgh is closed following a crash between a car and a motorbike on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred shortly before 12.30pm between Gilmerton Road and Kirk Brae.
Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, police said that Liberton Road was closed due to the crash and emergency services remain at the scene.
The Scottish Ambulance Service dispatched three ambulances, a paramedic response unit, a trauma team and a special operations response team to the incident.
Three people were taken to hospital, where their conditions remain unknown.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
Edinburgh Travel News said that alternative and surrounding routes were busier than usual, with notable queues on Gilmerton Road, Double Hedges Road, Kirk Brae and Mount Vernon Road.
Several bus diversions are also in place affecting the Lothian Bus numbers seven, 31, 37 and 47.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12.33pm to attend an incident on Liberton Road, Edinburgh.
“Three ambulances, a paramedic response unit, a trauma team and a special operations response team (SORT) were dispatched to the scene.
“Three patients were transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
