A new block of toilets at a beauty spot in Edinburgh have been destroyed by fire.

Emergency services were called to Threipmuir Reservoir shortly after 8am to reports of a fire at a block of toilets.

Firefighters dampened the area using buckets of water and the crew left after ensuring the area was safe.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted on Friday, April 19 at 8.07am to reports of a fire at a block of toilets at Threipmuir Reservoir, Edinburgh.

“Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene where firefighters dampened the area using buckets of water.

“The crew left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are appealing for any information regarding the new toilets at Threipmuir Reservoir having been destroyed by fire last night.  

“If you know anything please call 101 quoting incident number 0562 of April 19, 2024.”
