A nurse who shouted at a colleague that they would be ‘struck down by God’ is to be removed from the register after committing a wide range of misconduct over a period of two years.

Yosi Daniel Akut was employed by NHS Lothian when she was referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

A litany of accusations spanning from September 2018 to August 2020 were submitted to the council, when Akut resigned from nursing.

The council heard that on November 21, 2018 while working on the Fillieside Ward at Findlay House, Akut was seen to “forcefully feed” one patient causing them to spit out their food.

It was also found that on April 26, 2019 at the same location, she shouted at a colleague, saying that they “would be struck down by God,” or words to that effect.

Overall, Akut admitted to almost 30 charges while a further eight were found to be proved.

The committee judged that due to the number of charges and the timeframe, a striking off order was the most suitable sanction.

“Behaving in an aggressive manner towards a patient and colleagues, lack of compassion and regard for patient safety,” were all found as contributing factors to the decision.

An interim suspension order was put in place, and if no appeal is lodged after 28 days the striking off order will come into force.
