LDRSOver 3,000 penalty charge notices have been issued since the pavement parking ban came into operation in Fife.
The Footway Parking Bill, which became law in Scotland in December 2023, prohibits parking on pavements, blocking dropped kerbs and double parking.
It was implemented in Fife on September 1 last year although exemptions for the scheme are still to be decided.
Motorists face a £100 penalty charge if caught parking on the pavement although this is halved to £50 if paid within 14 days.
Cowdenbeath councillor Alex Campbell requested an update on the numbers who have fallen foul of the law at Thursday’s meeting of Fife Council.
Councillor Altany Craik, spokesperson for finance, economy and strategic planning, responded: “Since enforcement began on September 1, 2025, 3,024 Penalty Charge Notices have been issued across Fife.
“These comprise 2,580 for pavement parking, 343 for parking at dropped kerbs and 101 for double parking.
“In total, 2,178 have been paid, 401 have been appealed and 445 cases remain live.”
