A 59-year-old man has died after a collision with a lorry in the Scottish Borders.

The incident occurred at around 12.50am on Monday, August 17, on the A72 just north of the village of Skirling.

It involved an HGV lorry and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 59-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is aware.

There are no other reported injuries.

The road was closed and reopened around 7.30pm.

Police say enquiries into what happened remain ongoing.

Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died at this difficult time. 

“As our enquiries into the crash continue, I would urge anyone who has any information that may assist our investigation or relevant dash cam footage of the area around the time to contact police.”
