A 74-year-old man has been seriously hurt, whilst a 74-year-old woman was critically injured.

A pensioner is fighting for her life whilst another has been seriously injured after a car they were travelling in lost control and hit a tree.

The crash happened on the A994 at the roundabout junction with the A985 in Cairneyhill, Fife, at around 1.50pm on Monday.

A 74-year-old man was driving the red Vauxhall Corsa, which appeared to lose control and come off the road before crashing into a tree.

His 74-year-old female passenger was critically injured, whist he was seriously hurt.

Emergency services attended and both pensioners were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Sergeant Colin Morrison said:  “Our investigation to establish the cause of this road crash is continuing.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash take place, or anyone who was driving on this road around the time of the crash who has dashcam footage to please contact us.”
