Pensioner left 'covered in blood' after crashing car through house

A pensioner was left “covered in blood” after crashing a car into a house in Fife.

The vehicle ploughed into the front of a house on Anderson Drive, Cowdenbeath, at around 9.15pm on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the scene and a 71-year-old man, along with another person, were checked over by an ambulance.

No-one else was injured as a result of the crash, officers said.

Local resident Sophie Barnes witnessed the driver get taken into an ambulance “covered in blood” after the crash.

She said: “The man crashed into someone’s house; he lives on the same street.

“People are saying he might have had a heart attack behind the wheel, or he could have passed out and lost control of the car.

“After the crash, police cars, two fire engines, and an ambulance arrived at the scene.

“He was in an ambulance covered in blood.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers attended a one vehicle crash on Anderson Drive, Cowdenbeath at around 9.15pm on Sunday, April 10, 2022.

“Emergency services attended and the driver of the car, a 71-year-old man, was checked by the ambulance service.

“There will be no further police action.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.14pm on Sunday, April 10 to reports of a collision involving one car and a property at Anderson Drive, Cowdenbeath.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and firefighters assisted emergency service partners at the scene.

“Two casualties were in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
