Services between Bathgate and Airdrie faced disruption on Monday after a person was struck by a train.
Emergency services were called to a line near Bathgate station at around 5.24am after reports of a casualty on the tracks.
A person was taken to hospital with “life-changing” injuries.
Services between Bathgate and Airdrie were affected, and Network Rail confirmed that disruption may continue.
A BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Bathgate railway station at around 5.24am on Monday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, and a person was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
