Police are carrying out extensive searches to trace a missing man whose car was found 45 miles from where he was last seen.

Guy Bargery was reported missing from the Dundas Street area of Edinburgh around 9.50am on Monday.

The 60-year-old’s car was traced to Chapelhill, near St Madoes in Perth and Kinross around 2.30pm the following day.

Searches are being carried out in a wooded area, which is popular with dog walkers.

Police say they are growing increasingly concerned for Guy’s welfare and have urged anyone who has seen him to get in touch.

He is described as white, around 5ft 9ins tall and of medium build with grey/white hair.

When he was last seen he was wearing a green and cream checked shirt, denim jeans, a beige jacket, and is believed to have been wearing black trainers.

Inspector Stephen Gray said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Guy’s wellbeing and safety. Extensive searches and enquiries are ongoing in and around the Chapelhill and St Madoes areas to trace him as soon as possible to ensure that he is safe and well.

“The wooded area in Chapelhill is popular with dog walkers and we would urge anyone who has seen Guy there to contact us as soon as possible.

“I would urge anyone with any information that may help us trace Guy is asked to phone Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 3443 of January 27.”
