Police probing the assault of a cyclist in a busy Edinburgh street say they are following 'positive lines of enquiry'.

Police have launched an investigation after a cyclist was assaulted during an altercation with a driver in Edinburgh’s Old Town.

Video footage circulating on social media appears to show the man being thrown to the ground by the motorist in front of a white car in High School Wynd.

Police say the cyclist was taken to hospital to be checked over.

The incident happened at around 6.25pm on Friday September 20.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.25pm on Friday, 20 September, 2024, we received a report of a male cyclist being assaulted during an altercation with the male driver of a car in High School Wynd, Edinburgh.

“The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital to be checked over and officers are following positive lines of enquiry in relation to the incident.”
