A police officer has been injured in a hit and run during a chase in Edinburgh.
The incident began when a Ford Transit van failed to stop for officers on Ferry Road, Leith.
The vehicle was spotted speeding at around 5.20pm and police gave chase when the driver failed to stop.
They purused through various streets, with the van colliding with other cars, including a police car, damaging wing mirrors and causing an officer to suffer minor injuries, before ending near Great Junction Street.
Police later traced the van on the North Leith Sands Industrial Estate but the driver had made off.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and have appealed for drivers with dash cam footage to come forward.
Sergeant Jen Forbes said : “Our enquiries are ongoing to identify the driver of the van, but we are requiring the assistance of the public.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the areas of Drylaw and Leith around 5.20pm on Thursday and could have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
“There were a number of cars which have potentially suffered damage to wing mirrors or bodywork and I would ask residents to check their cars in case and report it to us if they are damaged.
“I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward, you may have captured something which could assist us in our enquiries.”
