An elderly woman who disappeared overnight from Dunblane has been found “safe and well”.

Frances Liddle was last seen around 7.30pm on Tuesday walking on a footpath off Glen Road to the south of the town that leads to Bridge of Allan.

Extensive searches were carried out for the 81-year-old, with the coastguard and mountain rescue joining the operation.

On Wednesday afternoon, police confirmed the 81-year-old had been traced “safe and well”.

The public were thanked for their assistance.
