Police investigating 'unexplained' death of man found on popular walking route

The 64-year-old man was pronounced dead on the Water of Leith Walkway in Edinburgh on Thursday morning.

Police are investigating the “unexplained” death of a man in Edinburgh.

Officers were called to the Water of Leith Walkway at around 10.15am on Thursday, November 21 where a 64-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said the death is currently being treated as unexplained and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown.

However, it is not believed to suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.15am on Thursday, November 21, 2024, we were called to a report of concern for a man on Water of Leith Walkway, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and a 64-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, however it’s not believed to be suspicious. Enquiries are ongoing.”
