Police treating 'offensive' graffiti along A92 as hate crime

Police are treating graffiti along the A92 in Fife as a hate crime.

A number of reports have been made regarding offensive graffiti appearing on bridges between Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy.

An increase in incidents has been reported in recent days between Crossgates and Cowdenbeath.

The force has said the offensive content of the graffiti is also being treated as a hate crime.

Sergeant John Nicol from Cowdenbeath Community Policing Team said: “Everyone has the right to feel safe in their community.

“We take reports of hate-related behaviour extremely seriously and would encourage anyone with information about those responsible to get in touch.”

Officers are working with partner agencies to identify those responsible and discuss potential prevention methods.
