The investigation into the death of a man who was knocked down by a bus in Edinburgh during Halloween weekend is still ongoing.

Michael Leneghan was on foot when he suffered catastrophic injuries after being struck by a single-decker bus on the capital’s Cowgate at around 7.25pm on November 2, 2024.

The area, which is lined with bars and nightclubs, was busy with revellers at the time of the incident due to the Halloween weekend and Scotland’s rugby international against Fiji at Murrayfield.

Following the crash, police urged members of the public not to share “distressing” images on social media.

“The Procurator Fiscal has received a report on the death of a 74-year-old man in Edinburgh on 2 November 2024.

“An investigation into the death is ongoing and significant developments will be shared with the family throughout the investigation.”
