People are being urged to report any fly-tipping incidents at a rundown Stirling site to the environmental regulator.
And they are warning that police could be called in.
The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency has confirmed it is currently carrying out an investigation at the former Prudential Insurance office at Craigforth Campus in Stirling.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), said: “We are currently working with relevant partners to investigate and will pursue formal action where that is appropriate and crucially where sufficient evidence is available.
“Fly tipping is not just an eyesore: it can cause serious harm to our environment, wildlife and communities. It places an unnecessary burden on landowners, councils and taxpayers – diverting money and resources that could be better used elsewhere, to clear it up.
“We strongly urge anyone that has any information on fly-tipping incidents to report them directly to their local authority.”
How to report flytipping
- Incidents of fly-tipping can be reported by contacting the relevant local authority directly. You can find details for the relevant local authority on the gov.uk website- Find your local council – GOV.UK
- If the incident is on-going, is believed to be of a hazardous nature or is near a watercourse, the local authority may involve SEPA or Police Scotland in the investigation.
