The Queen will miss this year’s garden parties, including one in Edinburgh, and will instead be represented by other members of the royal family, Buckingham Palace have confirmed.
Four royal garden parties are set to take place this year, which will also be part of the celebrations for the monarch’s Platinum Jubilee.
The summer event at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in the Scottish capital is set to welcome guests on June 29.
Three other garden party events will take place during May in the Buckingham Palace Garden.
This year’s celebrations will be the first to go ahead since the beginning of the pandemic, which forced the parties to be cancelled in both 2020 and 2021.
A spokesperson for the palace also confirmed that “details on attendance will be confirmed in due course”.
Mobility issues have forced the Queen, who is the UK’s longest reigning sovereign, to pull out of some events in recent months.
Last month she celebrated her 96th birthday and the 70th anniversary of her reign on the throne in February this year.
