Reward of £5000 to catch thief who robbed pensioner

A £5000 reward for information is being offered two years after a robbery where an elderly woman was threatened at knifepoint in her home.

During a raid on May 4, 2018, a 76-year-old woman was held at her house on Lundin Road, in Dunfermline’s Crossford.

Several items were stolen during the incident.

Police have been trying to locate a man seen at a petrol station in Greenock, Renfrewshire, in the days following the robbery.

Despite an extensive investigation, they say the man captured on CCTV footage has still not been identified and members of the public have been asked to come forward if they recognise him.

Crimestoppers has now offered a £5000 reward to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest of the person responsible.

Detective sergeant Kieran Marsh, of Dunfermline CID, said: “Despite extensive inquiries by detectives and a national television appeal, we have been unable to identify and locate this man who we would like to speak to as we believe he may have information that could assist our investigation.

“We are further appealing for the public’s help with this.

“Anyone who recognises him is urged to contact either police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”

The man police want to speak to is around 5ft 8in tall and may have a foreign accent, possibly Eastern European.

He was last seen at the Tesco garage in Greenock on Monday, May 7, 2018 and may drive a black Vauxhall Mokka.

He may have links to Greenock or Clackmannanshire and was in west Fife in the days before the robbery.
