Roads reopen after fire extinguished at listed harbour warehouse

A fire broke out at the B-listed McArthur's Store at around 1.15pm on Monday.

Roads have reopened in Dunbar after firefighters tackled a major blaze at one of the town’s historic harbour buildings.

Emergency services were called to the B-listed McArthur’s Store on Victoria Street around 1.15pm on Monday, 27 October, 2025.

Four fire engines and specialist crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were sent to the scene to deal with the “well-developed” fire.

Thick black smoke and flames were seen coming from the building, one of the oldest surviving warehouses on the harbour.

Several nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution, and residents were advised to keep their windows closed.

The fire was later extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Shore Street and Lamar Street, which had been closed during the incident, have since reopened.

Police thanked the public for their patience while emergency services worked in the area.
