A footballer who went viral after smashing into a glass bus stop played a full game the day after – with a new opposition nickname.
Tullibody St Serf’s FC winger Mack “exploded” with millions of views on the internet after a clip of him attempting to race a teammate outside a pub ended with him colliding with a bus shelter.
“It was our awards night out,” club chairman Andy Cook explained.
“Every season, we have an awards ceremony, players of the year, goal of the season, that type of thing. So that’s outside our local pub that sponsors our team.
“The boys decided to do some one-on-ones outside the pub.
“It was one of many races, the last one of the night, as you can imagine.
“We’d invited these YouTubers down (Away Days) to come and play with us, and then they came to the pub with us. And one of the cameramen pulled out his phone and decided to film this race.
“It just exploded; I don’t know how many millions of views it has right now. Every time I open up Instagram or Reels, I just see someone else has re-shared it.”
Remarkably, Mack came away from the accident injury-free – and even managed to play a “good game” for the full 90 minutes.
However, he acquired the new nickname ‘Bus Stop’ from the opposition.
“He’s taking it in good spirits, definitely,” Andy added.
“We played in a cup game yesterday, and the away team had seen the video, and the coach came over straight away and said, “Which one of your boys is Bus Stop?”
“That became his nickname for the rest of the game. But he actually had a good game, created some chances.
“He just runs constantly. There were a lot of rough heads, as you can imagine.
“Considering the night out and the fact that he put his head through a glass bus window, he had a good game.
“He’s probably the first, of many more, in our club history to lose a 50/50 with a bus stop.”
